The 2022 Vieux Château Mazerat checks in as 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc that saw the standard 80% new French oak. It’s a ripe, sexy, blockbuster-styled beauty offering lots of dark cherry and plum fruits, some obvious minerality, full-bodied richness, beautiful tannins, and some meaty, iron, tobacco-laced nuances.
