Description of the wine
Founded in the 16th century, Grand Cru Classé Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste has always been family owned. We have worked with the current owners, the Borie family to produce this classic example of Pauillac terroir. A cabernet-driven wine with shows all the elegance of the appellation alongside the generous plush fruit of the 2015 vintage.
Tasting note
The nose is generous with black current and cherry fruit with hints of leather and sweet vanilla. On the palate more black cherry fruit is on show. The tannins are very fine and ripe and the finish shows a lovely freshness which lifts the fruit and makes for a very food friendly wine. Match with red meat, game or hard cheese.
Winemaking note
The grapes are hand harvested and then go through a double sorting process before being destemmed and macerated at a constant temperature. Extraction is methodical and as gentle as possible. Following fermentation, the wine is matured in part new French oak barrels.
