Region
The unique low alpine region of Piedmont (or Piemonte), which means `at the foot of the mountains`, is located in northwest Italy around the city of Turin. The region includes the small and prestige hillside wine towns of Barolo, Barbaresco, Asti and Gavi, where a diverse variety of wine styles originate. Some of Italy`s most revered and expensive red wines come from the Nebbiolo grape, grown alongside Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato and Cortese.

Producer
Cantine Volpi`s wine-making premises are located in Viguzzolo, just outside the Piedmontese town of Tortona. Giuliano Noè has been responsible for the technical side for many years, always aiming at further improvement in the quality. When the wines have completed their initial period of development, they change surrounding for their subsequent maturation and ageing. The cellars where they complete their maturation are located in the out-skirts of Tortona, where an extensive variety of ageing barrels, stainless steel, large Slavonian oak casks and small French oak barriques are used.

Tasting Notes
Made at the Volpi family estate in Tortona, Piemonte from Cortese vines planted in the central hilltops of the Gavi di Gavi district. This dry wine has a perfumed mineral character, with aromas of citrus fruits, peaches and flowers. The fruit character follows through on the palate accompanied by lingering hints of vanilla and a crisp minerality. This soft-textured Gavi has a dry and steely finish.

Food
Ideal with grilled fish, especially trout, monkfish or seabass, creamy mushroom pasta and risottos.
