Tasting Notes
The Vicchiomaggio estate, with vineyards around the market town of Greve, makes typical vibrant Classico, blended from 90% Sangiovese, 5% Colorino and 5% Canaiolo. This is a traditional mix, producing a well-structured wine rounded with maturation in large oak barrels. It is full bodied, with good fresh fruit, a touch of spice and vanilla from the oak with fine grained tannins and a bittersweet finish.

Food
Serve with pasta with tomato based sauces.

Producer
Castello Vicchiomaggio is situated in the heart of the Chianti region, close to the historical town of Greve in Chianti. The origins of the Castello and wine making can be traced back to the 5th century, and the present owners, John and Paola Matta, are dedicated to maintaining this tradition. They are certified sustainable which takes into account activities in the winery and the vineyard. The most prominent vine is Sangiovese, which is the fundamental grape for Chianti Classico, but they also have indigenous grapes such as Canaiolo and Colorino, as well as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
