Region
Grenache forms the backbone of southern Rhône blends, including Châteauneuf du Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras. The vast area of Côtes du Rhône offers a great diversity of soils, microclimates and a variety of grapes to create a range of styles at all quality levels. The aromatic dessert Muscat de Beaumes de Venise, is fragrant and sweet.

Producer
This is the family estate of Eli Jeune, the owner of Domaine Grand Tinel. The domaine stretches to some 14 hectares on the rolled pebbles (locally known as `Galets`) of the southern Rhone floodplain. These were deposited when the Rhone was a torrent, bringing fragment of rock down from the Alps.

Tasting Notes
Owned by the Elie Jeune family, this wonderful estate produces traditional wine, and has been a top performer and Robert Parker star in recent vintages. Rich and robust with a deep, dark red colour. The nose is explosive, intense and complex, revealing aromas of liquorice, oregano, sage and luscious red fruits. It is concentrated, rich and unctuous, filling the mouth with intense flavours of cherry, red fruits and has a finish that goes on and on.

Food
Serve with roast beef or venison.
