As you have probably gathered from previous email offers I am a huge fan of good value Bordeaux from the very best vintages, 2010 clarets are now becoming increasingly hard to find under £50 per bottle. I have found not only what I think is one of the best value 2010's, but a wine with real character and from a highly respected producer - Denis Durantou (who sadly passed away last year) highly respected for taking L'eglise Clinet, Pomerol from complete obscurity to become one of the greatest Bordeaux wines you can buy. I am therefore delighted to be able to offer a wine that was produced by this great winemaker - Montlandrie 2010, rated 93 points by Neal Martin and 92/93 James Suckling, a really incredible wine for £34.95 per bottle.

The Montlandrie is from limestone soils, a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc aged in 50% new oak. The nose is very harmonious and pure with scents of strawberry cheesecake, fresh raspberry and a touch of spice. There is just a little reduction but it soon blows away. The palate is medium-bodied with very smooth, filigree tannins. There is a fine sense of symmetry to this wine, focused and long in the mouth, with a sensual dark cherry and bergamot tinged finish. Gorgeous.
