The 2024 Pétrus has impressive ripeness on the nose in the context of the growing season, with scents of blackcurrant, blueberry and iodine. Its aromatic profile touts a little more flamboyance and sensuality than those of some of its fellow Pomerol estates. Cashmere tannins and perfectly judged acidity frame the harmonious and poised palate. Whilst it does not contain the profound complexity of the 2022 (for example), the 2024 does retain the essence of Pétrus. There is a little more flesh and just a hint of spicebox towards the finish. At 13.3% abv, this is just a delicious Pomerol. (Drink between 2029-2052)
