Founded in 1730 Lanson is one of the oldest Champagne houses in France. Despite the vicissitudes in its long history, including the first Gulf War and resultant crash in the Champagne market, which led to takeovers and loss of Lanson vineyards, Chef de Cave (cellar master) Jean-Paul Lanson has preserved the essential style and quality of the Champagne. Adhering to the traditional precept of preventing malo-lactic fermentation to give the Champagne a fine quality, together with successful ageing, this Champagne - although full bodied is fresh, crisp with a signal dry quality (11g/l dosage) while developing more complexity over time. Grapes for this NV Champagne are sourced only from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards. The dominant Pinot Noir (50%) is from Aube region, with 35% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier.
