Tasting note
This cuvée is a pale golden colour. The nose reveals aromas of flowers, white fruits, apricots, Mirabelle plum and very light notes of lemon, citrus fruits, quince jelly and honey. On the palate, white flowers mingle with a hint of toastiness.

History
Founded in Ay in 1584 Champagne Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne and it has been owned by the Renaud Cointreau family since 1993. Continued excellence is ensured by Odilon de Varine, Gosset Cellar master. This cuvée is new to the range and was made as an aperitif. This is the only wine made at Gosset to undergo malolactic fermentation.

This is a dry, mineral wine with a tight texture of lemon zest, white stone fruits and crispness. It is dry while keeping fresh fruitiness. The texture and the structure are just coming together as the wine moves towards a more mature future. A light toastiness adds complexity.

Fresh notes of Golden Delicious apples with hints of nuttiness and buttery toast. The palate is fresh and fragrant with autumn apple and white peach flavours.

...opens with a very clear, precise and concentrated bouquet. It is also pure and pretty coolish/greenish with chalk, herbs and lemon peels – really exciting! Very mineral and complex on the palate, this is a pure and finesse-full, but firmly structured and persistent Champagne with marjoram flavors in the long, stringent, tension-filled finish... It has an intense and deep taste, with excellent ageing potential. Impressive.

The focus and intensity of a lemon in the Hadron Collider charged with dimension-changing life-enhancing splendour.

Gosset's is always a unique style of blanc de blancs. It is rich, creamy, full-bodied and full-flavoured for what is usually a more restrained style. This would go well with a meaty fish like halibut and a courgette and aubergine gratin.

'...Drawing mainly from Cote des Blancs vineyards, it's crisply elegant with a fine mineral texture and taut character. It's poised for further development in bottle...'

Sommeliers International, Winter 2017
'...delicious, with a beautiful intensity. Aromas of toast, brioche...frank first taste, slightly salty. A lot of elegance, well-balanced, with a very fine bubble. A light aroma of brioche...'

'Beautiful yellow-gold. The nose gradually unfurls to faintly tropical fruit tones. The palate is ample and expressive and boasts abundant freshness. The finish showcases intense fruit aromas and substantial persistency.'

A hint of chalk appears even before subtle notes of autolysis become apparent. The slender palate comes with disarming freshness and poise, revealing edges of fresh lemon, subtle patisserie, more chalk and richer hints of lemon oil. Precise in character with very fine mousse, and so long.
