Château Meyney 2015, Saint Estèphe
£39.95 per bottle
Chateau Meyney 2015 is one of the real bargains of Bordeaux and a top recommendation, as Jancis Robinson stated in her tasting note “Everyone thought this was Montrose!” Also scored 94 points by Neal Martin it really is an exceptional wine at this price point.
"The 2015 Meyney is an outstanding Saint Estèphe and here confirms its shock victory in the blind Southwold tasting. Intense dark cherries, blackberry and sage on the nose reveal just a hint of iron filings, all very cohesive and demonstrating well-integrated oak. The medium-bodied palate offers fine-grained tannins, good grip and plush red fruit laced with white pepper and sage, leading to a more structured finish than the impressive 2014. Superb. Tasted at a vertical at Château Meyney."

"Tasted blind. Very dark crimson. Rich array of aromas on the nose. Ambitious with lots of stuff covering a pretty massive charge of tannins. Just slightly inky. Exciting finish. Very persistent. Classic build with lots of ambition. Everyone thought this was Montrose!"
