Tasting Notes
A blend of indigenous Portugese grapes from a single vineyard, this wine is a lively violet colour with a seductive combination of black cherries, cinnamon and leathery aromas. On the palate it is both peppery and smooth with ripe mulberry fruit and cedar overtones giving plenty of length. It is an elegant wine with a velvety mouthfeel. Firm tannins and a good acidity add structure to the wine which finishes long and complex.

Food
Serve with beef, ox tail or roast game, cured meat antipasti and well flavoured cheeses.

Region
The demarcated region for Port wine follows the steep, winding river of the Douro. The region for centuries has had a history of viticulture created in harsh conditions, constantly flighting with the natural geography of the land. The region was founded in 1756 by the then Prime Minister, making the Douro region one of the oldest demarcated wine regions in the world. Beginning 75km east of the coastal city of Oporto at Barqueiros and stretching to the town of Barca d`Alva at the Portuguese - Spanish border. The region is then divided into three regions; Baixo Corgo (lower Corgo), Cima Corgo (Upper Corgo) and Douro Superior. Each sub region is separated by natural frontiers which gives them their own distinctive style and therefore allowing the Douro to produce a multitude of styles of Port wine.

Producer
The Delaforce family have owned and run the property for over 80 years. Management and marketing are carried out by David Delaforce and vineyards and wine-making are the responsibility of his son Nicholas. With this wealth of experience they are committed to the production wines from indigenous Portuguese varieties.
