Founded in 1812, the Laurent-Perrier Champagne house was inherited and revived by Bernard de Nonancourt who had fought with French resistance in World War 2 as a leader of a maquis cell. With his personal qualities of leadership, innovation, acumen, he transformed the atrophying business into the largest Champagne house in France which is still largely family owned. Reviving what had been a late nineteenth century move to dry rather than the previous fashion for sweeter wine, Laurent-Perrier is champion of very dry Champagnes, evolving from wood to stainless steel in production, together with its hallmark art of blending component elements.

Distinguished by the chubby round hipped bottle, this rosé Champagne has become highly successful, created unusually from 100% Pinot Noir from the best vineyards, and using, for a few days only, the saignée method (contact with the red grape skins) rather than the addition of red wine.
