Croix Canon is a fairly new wine established in 2011. We had the pleasure of trying this wine at chateau Canon during the en primeur tastings back in 2017 and more recently last week. The wine is drinking nicely now and will keep for 10 years+ provided it is stored well. There are accents of spice too, but they are subtle and integrated. The palate is wonderfully textured, cashmere tannins melting into the dark cherry and cocoa fruit. The seamless mouthfeel allows the fruit and spice to intermingle brilliantly, and there is already a saline, savoury edge. This seems to meliorate in glass. The palate is very well balanced with fine tannin, a Griffons that is nimble and agile, the finish very precise with an almost clinical graphite-tinged finish.
